A husband needing assistance

Hello. My name is Leroy Merchant and I am a husband who’s wife (Fabiola) is currently battle a diagnosed of stage 4 ovarian and colon cancer and also raising two teenage boys. My mother suffered a stroke in June who also needs my help. Life took us for a ride back in October last year when my wife was diagnosed and my mother’s stroke. Then on March I became unemployed due to Covid19 and it has been a struggle not only before but became more in March, being home have giving me an opportunity to take care of my wife but right now we are struggling due to me not working. The bills are coming but unfortunately I’ve exhausted my checking and savings account. With my wife being out of work its been extremely hard. She started a new job and wasn’t there long enough to apply for unemployment. She applied for Social security benefits and was denied and trying to obtain assistance from the hospital seems to be going nowhere. At this time I am the only person who is able to take care of my wife and mom in regards to all hospital and Dr visits, she is currently getting treatments for chemo and that is weekly. During chemo she is extremely weak where I have to help her out of bed each morning, Assist with her daily meals, help with hygiene, prep and feed her all her meals etc.. Our teenage boys also help but its hard on them watching their mother struggle daily. I would love to work but unfortunately my place of employment is close until further notice. Please help us as we are two hard working people who is currently going through an extremely hard time. Thank you in advance for reading my story and hope we are able to get assistance.

A caring husband

In my story covid19 and my wife being diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian and colon cancer. With her not working and me unable to work due to Covid have placed us in a bind. Please assist

Normality

Corona virus has sent all my friends back home since I am from where my school is. We didn’t get to have a graduation but other than that everything is still normal here people aren’t even worried about covid anymore

Not that bad

Corona has given me time to work on my game and the things I lacked, haven’t really affected me negatively besides not being in school

Hope

Corona virus has helped me more than hurt me, my body gets to heal I’ve had a lingering shoulder injury so now I get to let that heal. I am sad that I can’t be at school around all my teammates and friends but I hope we get a cure and they don’t cancel the football season nor push it back

Family time (Story #734)

The Corona virus has gave me an opportunity to work from home, this time has let me spend more time with my family.

My New Pass Time

Have found myself using much of the spare time cutting out patterns to make masks.

My New Normal

This new normal has been somewhat difficult for me. I am a people person that always greeted everyone with a hug. I work with children and I always greeted them with a kiss and a big hug. When my children see me they come running with arms open wanting that hug and kiss. They don’t understand social distances. Having to learn how to use Zoom, Google Classroom and Google Meets has been a challenge. I have gracefully accepted my new normal.

Living with the New Normal

I am working from home, which is a benefit. My children are learning digitally, which means that I have to also teach them academically. For my husband it gas changed his day to day and how he does things and being mindful those who are around him. We have a new normal. Lastly, no real social gathering and meeting with friends.

A New Beginning from The Seemingly End

My mom works in the medical/health field. She goes to private residences everyday and she was over on Palm Beach and she went to see a patient. There are different protocols for people with and without corona diagnosis. She was made aware that neither the patient of her husband had tested positive for it and that they only had pneumonia. She felt fine at first and didn’t think anything of it but the next morning we got a call informing us we were to remain in quarantine for 3 weeks and get tested twice as both the patient and her husband actually have corona. My mom ended up testing positive so I had to go remain in other housing until it is cleared up. As a student I do not have very much money so it has been very hard to manage the stress of 14 credit hours including Orgo 1 and 2, the cost of groceries, and the constant absence of toiletry items. I basically had to start all over.
